KATI THAMO

KATI THAMO

Born in 1956, I have lived in WA for most of my life, growing up in suburban Perth and then moving to the far south coast of the state in 1980. I received a BA of Visual Arts in 1998 at Edith Cowan University and Honours in printmaking at the Hobart School of Art in 2001. Over the years I have taught at both Tafe and University level, but now work predominantly as a printmaker from my studio in Albany, working across etchings, linocuts and collagraphs. Drawing, textiles, ceramics and installation are also part of my overall art practice. Thematically my art is concerned with human/nature relationships, and often has a strong environmental focus. My works tend toward an intimate engagement with the natural world, recording my observations of nature and interactions with animals and birds, however fleeting.

My artwork has been exhibited nationally in both solo and group exhibitions and is held in public and private collections across Australia and overseas.  I have also undertaken several public art projects, mostly sculptural installations, which draw on environmental and geographic themes.
