Matthew Wright

In Residence on the verandahs at Donnelly River Village

17-26 June 2022

Matthew Wright (b. 1988) is an artist from Walyalup/Fremantle, Western Australia. Working with acrylic paint, his practice ranges from representational painting, to pure abstraction. His works explore ideas of transience, specifically in relation to the mundane and the everyday.

Matthew graduated from the WA Academy of Performing Arts in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance), before beginning his art practice in 2013.

He has since had four solo shows, including two at Linton and Kay Galleries in Subiaco, as well as numerous local and interstate group shows. In 2021 he was the Overall Award Winner for the City of Belmont Art Award, and has been the Open Award winner for both the City of Bayswater (2018), and City of Rockingham (2019) Art Awards.
